OPERATIONS
CAPTAIN CRAIG VARNER
Craig Varner began his career with the Burbank Police Department on October 23, 1981, when he was appointed as a Police Officer. During his service as a Police Officer he worked as a Training Officer and a School Resource Officer. He promoted to the rank of Detective in August of 1991. As a Detective he was assigned to the Juvenile Detail working crimes against children. In May of 1996, he promoted to Sergeant and worked assignments in the Patrol Division, Internal Affairs Bureau, Personnel and Training (now known as COPS), and Community Outreach. He promoted to Lieutenant in January of 2000. As a Lieutenant he was assigned to the Patrol Division, moved to the Professional Standards Unit, and finally the Crimes v. Property Bureau. On December 17, 2004, Craig was promoted to the rank of Captain. He is currently serving as the Patrol Division Commander. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Theology from Trinity College and Seminary.
Captain Craig Varner is married with four children and enjoys spending time with his family, being involved in his church, and playing basketball.
