CHIEF
TIM STEHR
Chief Stehr began his police career as a Police Explorer with the Monrovia Police Department in 1974. In 1976, he became a Police Cadet for Monrovia Police Department, and in 1978 he came to Burbank Police Department as a Cadet. He became a Police Officer in 1979 and was promoted to Detective in 1984. As a Detective, he worked in Personnel and Training, Fraud, Burglary, and Vice/Narcotics. He spent three years in a State narcotics task force.
In January of 1993, Chief Stehr was promoted to Sergeant, working in the Patrol Division and the Crimes Against Persons Unit. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2000, working in the Patrol Division and the Detective Bureau, leading the Gang Detail, Persons Detail, Juvenile Detail, Identification Section, and Special Weapons Team. He was promoted to Patrol Captain on February 1, 2003. On July 1, 2006 he was promoted to Deputy Chief and oversees the day to day operations of the department.
On August 2, 2007 he was promoted to Chief of Police.
Chief Stehr earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University , Los Angeles , and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University , Northridge. Deputy Chief Stehr is a graduate from the FBI National Academy, the California P.O.S.T. Supervisory Leadership Institute, South West Command College, and Leadership Burbank.
