CAPTAIN PAT LYNCH
Pat Lynch migrated to Burbank by way of Sedona, Arizona where he grew up and attended Flagstaff High School. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps where he attained the rank of sergeant while serving as a Sea School Instructor at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. It was during this time, he developed strong feelings for the Southern California area.
Pat attended college majoring in Administration of Justice. After a brief stint as a bricklayer, Pat was hired as a police officer for the City of Burbank in 1980.
As a police officer, Captain Lynch worked uniform patrol, vice narcotics, and as a field training officer before being promoted to the rank of detective in 1986. As a detective, he was assigned to the robbery homicide detail before being promoted to sergeant in 1989. During his fourteen years as a sergeant, he worked uniform patrol, the LA IMPACT narcotic taskforce, the Special Enforcement Detail, and was a motor sergeant. In 1993, he helped establish the department’s Special Response Team (SRT) and became their first team leader. In 2000, Captain Lynch was presented with the department’s Police Medal for his actions during a workplace shooting at the Aramark Corporation. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2003 where he was assigned to uniform patrol, and the Investigation Division Crimes Against Person’s Detail as the bureau commander. Captain Lynch spearheaded the federal multi-agency Vineland Boyz Taskforce for eighteen months until its successful conclusion in late 2005. As a lieutenant, he was the tactical commander of the Special Response Team and oversaw the Gang Unit, Forensic Specialists Unit, Juvenile Detail, and the Crimes Against Persons Detail.
On August 23, 2007, he was promoted to the rank of captain. Pat is responsible for the Uniform Patrol Division, and is the Commander of the department’s Special Response Team.
Captain Lynch is a graduate of the P.O.S.T. Supervisory Leadership Institute and the FBI National Academy. He is currently attending California State University Long Beach.
Captain Lynch has a son, a daughter, and three grandchildren. He has coached baseball and softball for fifteen years within the City of Burbank, several years at John Burroughs High School. He is a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Lodge #1497, and is a volunteer committee member for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, San Fernando Valley Chapter. |
