Captain Janice Lowers BIOGRAPHY
Captain Lowers became a Police Officer in 1977 and was promoted to Detective in 1986. In June 1991, Janice promoted to Sergeant, working in the Patrol and Juvenile Divisions. She promoted to Lieutenant in 1998, working the Patrol Division and the COPS (Community Outreach and Personnel Services) Bureau. She promoted to Captain in August, 2003. Janice is currently the Investigation Division Commander. She has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership. Captain Lowers’ career has been punctuated by her love for children and animals. She served as a School Resource Officer at Muir Middle School and worked Juvenile, both as a Detective and a Sergeant. She has supervised both the K9 and Mounted Units. As the COPS Lieutenant, she worked with Teens in Action and was instrumental in reinstituting the Cadet program and creating the Community Outreach Officer position. As the Special Operations Commander, Captain Lowers oversaw the Animal Shelter and can be seen periodically hosting the Adopt-A-Pet Show. In her current position as Investigation Division Captain, she supervises Forensics, Investigations, Air Support, and the Jail. Captain Lowers is the mother of teenage twins and has been actively involved in their sports, scouting, and the community. Janice still lives in Burbank. She enjoys the outdoors, traveling with her children, and is a sports fanatic. |
