Since 1925 the City of Burbank Park, Recreation and Community Services Department has played an important role in creating healthy community through diverse and innovating recreation programming. 

Our mission is to provide a place to play, a place to be safe and secure, and a place to create and imagine remains consistent with the early pioneers of the Department.

Sports Programs

The City of Burbank provides youth and adult sports programs including baseball, basketball, flag football, roller hockey, softball, and volleyball.  Additional programs include training for coaches and parents of youth teams, game officials, and scorekeepers. Burbank Athletic Federation

Since 1947, The Burbank Athletic Federation (BAF) has assisted the Park, Recreation and Community Services Department with fostering, promoting, and developing amateur athletics in the City of Burbank.  The goals of the BAF include building good sportsmanship and character, citizen training, and physical maintenance for all participants as well as encourage friendly rivalry, group spirit, and team play.  Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month. Burbank Athletic Federation Code of Conduct

To insure good sportsmanship and to protect the rights of others, the BAF has established a Code of Conduct for players, coaches, managers, officials, and spectators. All participants/officials of municipally sponsored programs are members of the Burbank Athletic Federation and are responsible for adhering to the rules of the organization. The jurisdiction of the Burbank Athletic Federation covers the conduct of all participants including players, managers, coaches and officials. Teams will be held responsible for the conduct of their spectators.

 

Officials and/or staff have the authority to forfeit any contest of its continuance that would not be in the best interest of the Burbank sports program and have the authority to suspend participants for failure to comply with the Code of Conduct.

 

Burbank Athletics Walk of Fame

The City of Burbank recognizes the value of sports and athletic activities within the community.  To this end, the City is committed to the provision of high quality and diverse athletic programs.  These standards are achieved through the commitment and dedication of individuals who in their roles as participants, volunteers or professional staff, have furthered the excellence of organized sports programs sponsored by the City of Burbank.  For more information follow the link below:

Applications for the Burbank Athletics Walk of Fame can be obtained by using the link below or at the Sports and Aquatics Office.  The Criteria Committee will consider those individuals who began their involvement in 1975 or earlier, although they could still be involved more recently.  Applications must be submitted to the Sports and Aquatics Office by 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2008.

Aquatic Programs

Seasonal aquatic programs are offered at McCambridge Park and Verdugo Park swimming pools.  American Red Cross Learn to Swim, youth swim team, youth water polo, and fitness classes are held in the summer.  City of Burbank Lifeguards are certified by the American Red Cross.  For more information follow the link(s) below:
