Project Facts

Burbank Entertainment Village (AMC)  (go here to see a drawing of the proposed project)

The proposed project will consist of 209,012 gross square feet including: a new 16-screen, 4,200 seat state-of-the-art movie theatre with stadium seating, 120,000 square feet of retail stores and restaurants, and a pedestrian plaza with kiosks and landscaping on Palm Avenue between San Fernando Boulevard and First Street. The existing AMC 14 and surrounding downtown businesses will remain open during the construction of the project, but Palm Avenue will be closed permanently between First Street and San Fernando Boulevard beginning in November 2001.

The new megaplex, which will replace the existing AMC Burbank 14 as downtown’s entertainment centerpiece, will anchor the north end of the reinvigorated six-block mixed-use downtown district along San Fernando Boulevard in the city’s urban core.

Parking
The project will include 885 new spaces for free parking in two new multi-level parking structures. The 885 new parking spaces will be in addition to the existing 490 space parking structure located on Orange Grove Avenue. The two-block area will have 1,375 parking spaces to serve the project and adjacent businesses.

And Where Is That Parking?
During construction of the Burbank Entertainment Village Project, plenty of free parking will also be available in 14 lots and structures located throughout downtown
.

A recent survey of downtown parking use has determined there is parking available even during peak weekend evening periods. For example, while the AMC structure tends to fill up quickly, parking remains available in the Media Village (Lot N) and MSB parking structures (Lot G). Also, Lots M and P are virtually empty during weekend evenings.

Palm Avenue Closure
One of the first changes you will notice when the Burbank Entertainment Village breaks ground is the closure of Palm Avenue between San Fernando Boulevard and First Street.

Ultimately, Palm Avenue will be transformed into a dynamic new pedestrian plaza. This plaza is an integral feature of the Burbank Entertainment Village project, acting as its central connection to the rest of downtown. Improvements will include a grand staircase, kiosks, decorative concrete and landscaping. When completed, this pedestrian plaza will become a lively hub of activity and a destination for the Burbank community.
