Burbank’s Final Election Results Are Tabulated Burbank City Clerk Margarita Campos announced that the final results are in for Burbank’s General Election held April 8th. Overall voter turnout was 9,059. All ballots have been verified and counted. The results remain the same as announced at the end of the evening last Tuesday, although these numbers now include the absentee ballots cast at the polls and the valid provisional ballots cast. There were four names on the ballot for two City Council positions. Winning in the General Election were Jef Vander Borght (5,376 votes) and Todd Campbell (4,933) over Gary R. Bric (3,506) and Brian Malone (1,756). In the Primary Election in February, Dave Kemp was elected to one of the three open seats on the Board of Education. From the field of four candidates for the two remaining seats, Paul Krekorian (4,822) and Ted Bunch (4,487) were elected in the General Election, with Larry Applebaum receiving 4,038 votes and Mike McDonald 2,306. Measure N, the transient parking tax measure, received 4,073 "yes" votes and 4,026 "no." Measure O, a charter amendment regarding filling vacancies in City elected offices, received 5,318 votes in favor and 2,123 votes against. The turnout of 9,059 was 17.8% of Burbank’s registered voters, and 40% of those were absentee ballots, Campos reported. # # # |
