Tracy Pansini Named Burbank Fire Chief

Burbank City Manager Mary J. Alvord has announced the selection of Tracy Pansini as the Fire Chief for the City of Burbank .  Pansini, a 26 year veteran of the Burbank Fire Department, has served as Interim Fire Chief since May 2005.

I’m pleased to appoint Tracy as the Fire Chief.   With the fine job he has done as Interim Chief, Tracy has a proven track record and is the right person for this job.  I very much look forward to working with him,” said Alvord.

Since joining the Burbank Fire Department in 1979, Pansini has come up through the ranks. He has served as firefighter, fire engineer, paramedic firefighter, fire captain, and battalion chief.  Prior to being named interim Chief, Pansini served as Assistant Chief. 

“During my career I was fortunate to serve in many capacities and work with great people within the Fire Department who mentored me as well as many others.  I enjoy teaching in the fire community and mentoring others,” said Pansini.

Pansini is an active instructor at regional training centers for the advancement of the firefighting profession, especially in commanding and managing large emergency incidents.  He is involved in many professional associations including the International Fire Chiefs’ Association; Southern Section of the California Fire Chiefs’ Association; Los Angeles County Fire Chiefs’ Association; and the Foothill Fire Chiefs’ Association.

As Fire Chief, Pansini’s salary will be in the range of $10,335 - $12,557 per month.

“I appreciate the confidence our city manager Mary Alvord has shown in me and our department. She has been very supportive and I look forward to a long partnership,” said Pansini.  “Also, I am proud to be able to work with so many professionals in our executive team, elected officials and members of our fire department. We have a great group of people that are dedicated to providing the best services possible. We are eagerly awaiting the new challenges that will be presented to us and working in a collaborative fashion to solve them.”

The Burbank Fire Department has 145 employees and operates out of six strategically located fire stations with six engine companies, two ladder truck companies, a hazardous materials vehicle, and three paramedic rescue ambulances.
