Burbank Accepts Applications
for City Council Vacancy

The City Council of the City of Burbank is accepting applications for appointment to the position of City Council Member. The appointment will be for an unexpired term ending May 1, 2003. An applicant must be a resident of the City of Burbank and a registered Burbank voter.

The City Council is the legislative body of the City consisting of five members elected at large by Burbank voters to serve four-year terms. Council members also serve as the Redevelopment Agency, Housing Authority, Parking Authority, Youth Endowment Services Fund Board, and the Public Financing Authority. Council members receive $925 per month as well as $25 per meeting of the Redevelopment Agency, a car allowance, health insurance, and retirement benefits.

The Council meets every Tuesday night to deliberate and take action on projects and issues that come before them. There may be additional meetings throughout the year for Town Hall Meetings, Budget Study Sessions, and joint meetings with other agencies.

The City Clerk's Office will accept applications until 12:00 noon, Wednesday, March 13, 2002. The City Council will consider the applications at the meeting of March 19, 2002, and extend to candidates the opportunity to address the Council and answer questions at that time. The appointment is scheduled to be made no later than March 26, 2002.
