Final Results are Tabulated for Burbank’s 2007 Primary Nominating Election
Burbank City Clerk Margarita Campos announced that final results are in for Burbank’s Primary Nominating Election held Tuesday, February 27, 2007. Of the 51,053 eligible voters, 10,216 votes were cast, representing a 20 percent return rate. With all ballots verified and counted, the results remain consistent with those announced last Tuesday evening, although these numbers now include ballots that were pending verification by the Los Angeles County Registrar/Recorder’s Office.
There were seven candidates who qualified for the ballot for the two City Council seats (in ballot order): Carolyn Berlin (3,316 votes); Anja Reinke (3,983 votes); Phil Berlin (3,000 votes); Margaret Sorthun (341 votes); Vahe Hovanessian (1,222 votes); Whit Prouty (2,804 votes); and, Gary Bric (4,366 votes). Since no candidate received a majority of the votes cast at the Election, the two seats on the City Council will be filled at the General Municipal Election to be held on April 10, 2007 by two of the following four candidates: Gary R. Bric; Anja Reinke; Carolyn Berlin; and, Phil Berlin.
Each of the three Board of Education candidates received a majority of the votes cast and are therefore duly elected to office for a full term of four years, ending April 30, 2011. (Roberta Grande Reynolds – 5,705 votes; Ted Bunch – 6,084 votes; and. Dave Kemp – 6,528 votes). These offices will therefore not be on the General Election ballot.
