SALARY: $2,377
- $2,968/Mo ($13.71 - $17.12/Hr) - Salary includes a net 8%
PERS contribution paid for the employee by the City.
DEFINITION OF THE POSITION:
Under supervision, assists in performing a wide variety of
routine, unskilled landscape maintenance work; and to do
related work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE
POSITION:
Assists landscape maintenance crews with gardening and grounds
maintenance work; maintains the condition and cleanliness of
parks facilities; loads and unloads materials, supplies and
equipment; maintains, irrigates, and fertilizes grounds and
planting areas; picks up refuse and litter; sweeps
facilities and paved areas; drags, maintains and lines ball
diamonds; assists in planting trees, flowers, and shrubs;
cleans restrooms and washrooms; on occasion, may mow lawns
and greens with hand and power mowers; on occasion, may
operate light trucks and various small power equipment such
as renovators, cultivators, and hedge trimmers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE
POSITION:
LICENSE & CERTIFICATES:
A valid
California Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent is
required at time of appointment.
DESIRABLE
QUALIFICATIONS: Basic
knowledge and experience in horticulture and landscape
maintenance.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS &
QUALIFICATIONS:
Physical stamina to perform the required duties.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Ability to understand
and implement written and oral instructions; understand and
learn proper usage of landscape maintenance equipment;
perform manual work of a maintenance nature; establish and
maintain effective working relationships with supervisors,
fellow employees, and the public.
THE COMPETITION FOR THE
POSITION:
Applications will be reviewed. Admission to competitive
examination may be limited to those whose applications show
the best combination of qualifications in relation to the
requirements and duties of the position. Any part of the
examination process may be qualifying only.
