Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Make sure your wireless device is 802.11b or 802.11g compatible. 

2.  Set your wireless network interface to use DHCP IP addressing.

3.  Using your wireless device’s properties, “View available networks” to locate the Downtown-Burbank signal.

4.  Once your wireless device detects the “Downtown-Burbank” wireless network, highlight it and click “Connect”.  Windows XP users will have to check the “Allow me to connect to an insecure network” checkbox in order to connect.

5.  Once you have successfully connected to the “Downtown-Burbank” wireless network, you must open your web browser to authenticate.

6.  You will be prompted with a “Security Alert” that asks if you want to proceed.  Click “Yes” to proceed.

7.  You will then be redirected to the Downtown Burbank Wireless Gateway.  You must enter an E-mail address and click the check box agreeing to the terms of the Acceptable Use Policy.  The E-mail address entered does not have to be a valid E-mail address and is not verified.  It is strictly a unique identifier for your session. You may click the hyperlink to read the Acceptable Use Policy.

8.  Once you have entered an E-mail address and selected the box agreeing to the Acceptable Use Policy, you then click “Log In”.  You will receive a message stating that you have logged in.  You will also see a pop-up from Blue Socket that allows you to log out.

9.  You will then be redirected to the Downtown Burbank Web Site.

10.  Congratulations!  You have successfully logged in to the Downtown Burbank Wireless Network and may now browse the Internet!
